Therapy Sessions & Support for Chicagoland During COVID-19
At Counseling Works we take therapy seriously, and understand that coming into the office for an in-person session may not always be the best option for you. To accommodate our clients we do provide the option for telehealth if this is something that works better for your needs.
Telehealth is also something that we use in the event of a COVID-19 diagnosis in order to keep our clinicians and clients healthy and safe.
If you choose to use our Telehealth option, our intake staff and clinicians will help you get set up with the process to ensure a successful session.
We Offer Flexible Telehealth Options
We currently use TherapyNotes (a HIPAA compliant secure option for your telehealth sessions). For our team, the highest priority is always placed on protecting our clients’ health and safety, and we will do everything we can to ensure you receive the necessary support when you need us.

FAQs About Online Counseling in Illinois
At Counseling Works, we use HIPAA-compliant secure platforms to ensure your sessions remain private and confidential. This approach maintains the same professional standards and therapeutic quality as traditional face-to-face sessions, just with the added convenience of logging in from a location where you feel most comfortable.
The process is remarkably similar to visiting a therapist’s office, minus the commute. Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive a secure link to join the video call at your designated time. You’ll meet with your clinician in real-time, allowing you to discuss your challenges, set goals and work through coping strategies just as you would in person.
Our intake staff and clinicians guide you through the initial setup to ensure a successful session, regardless of your technical skill level. All you need is a reliable internet connection and a private space where you feel safe to talk openly.
Yes, extensive research and clinical evidence confirm that online counseling is as effective as traditional in-person therapy. By removing barriers like travel time and social stigma, telehealth can sometimes make it easier for clients to attend sessions consistently, which is a key factor in successful therapeutic outcomes.
Our mission remains the same regardless of the medium: to provide insight into your current challenges and help you discover how to overcome them. Whether you are dealing with trauma, relationship roadblocks or grief, our clinicians are trained to build a strong therapeutic alliance through the screen, ensuring you feel heard, understood, and supported.
Telehealth is an excellent option for many people, particularly those with busy schedules, mobility issues or those who live in remote areas with limited access to care. It is also ideal for individuals who wish to avoid visiting a clinical setting or who simply prefer the privacy of their own home.
However, it may not be suitable for everyone. If you are in an immediate crisis or require intensive intervention, in-person support might be recommended. Our team is happy to discuss your situation to help determine if telehealth is the best approach for your individual goals.
Taking the first step is often the bravest part of the journey. To get started with Counseling Works, simply reach out to our intake team, who will match you with a clinician best suited to your specific needs, whether you need support for individual issues, relationship struggles or family dynamics.
