At Counseling Works, our approach to therapy is to work in the moment, the here and now; to focus on the issues that have brought you into treatment and to work together to create immediate goals that will provide you with the ability to move forward through life with confidence. It is the goal at Counseling Works to help provide you with a greater understanding of why your present day struggles exist and to uncover contributing factors from the broader tapestry of your life and self history. Our strategy is to work with you to strike a balance in your life; one in which you are able to create concrete goals and develop positive coping mechanisms and to provide you with honest direct feedback as you progress forward in self awareness and healing.
There are times in life when one feels stuck and unable to move forward; when our familiar ways of coping with problems and stress do not work anymore and we struggle with old fears and anxieties.
One may encounter a new set of obstacles and challenges that we feel unprepared to handle and become increasingly overwhelmed and too frustrated to deal with constructively.
There are times when one can look at life and see all of the successes, the accomplishments and all of the faces of our friends and family; yet still feel empty like something is missing or incomplete. Perhaps we even understand that we want more for ourselves and our lives, but are not able to imagine how to get there or envision what “more” would look like.
There are many reasons as to why people seek therapy; whether it is in a time of personal or relationship crisis, to seek emotional relief from symptoms of an illness, or when the pressures of work or family life becoming unyielding in its demands.

The owner, Kristen, is a pleasure to work with. The office space is inviting and relaxing as well. I recommend giving them a call if you are seeking counseling services.
I recommend Sara Prouty to people looking for support, especially with adjusting during or after major life transitions. She is both encouraging and comforting. One of my personal mottos is, “help helps”. She can help you.
