Relationship Issues, Trauma / PTSD, Women's Wellness/Issues

Alyssa Wilderman, MA, Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), supports individuals, couples, and families navigating complex trauma, relationship issues, and women’s issues. Alyssa also specializes in ADHD, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. She earned a Bachelor’s in Journalism, Communications, and Creative Writing from the University of Iowa and her Master’s in Counseling at Adler University. Currently, Alyssa is attending Adler for her second Master’s in Industrial and Organizational Psychology to support clients with workplace dynamics and career development.

Alyssa brings a unique blend of clinical training and real-world experience to her work. With over two years in a community mental health agency and three years as a public school substitute teacher, she values advocating for adolescents and working collaboratively with clients to help them find strength, healing, and peace in their lives. Alyssa utilizes Internal Family Systems (IFS), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Motivational Interviewing, and strength-based approaches in her work with clients.

Alyssa works with complex trauma—long-term exposure to distressing experiences that impact self-worth, trust, and emotional regulation—helping clients gently untangle these layers, rebuild safety, and reclaim their stories at their own pace. In relationships, she collaborates with clients to uncover patterns shaped by attachment and past wounds, turning struggles into opportunities for growth and connection. For women’s issues, Alyssa offers a nurturing, non-judgmental space where clients can reclaim their voices and navigate identity, societal pressures, and life transitions with confidence.

Alyssa wants clients to know, “You don’t need the perfect words, a clear goal, or even a full understanding of what’s bringing you in. Just showing up is an act of strength. Therapy is a space where you get to be fully human—messy, uncertain, overwhelmed, curious—and that’s not only okay, it’s welcome. We’ll figure things out together, at your pace.”

Outside of work, Alyssa enjoys kayaking by the lake and spending time with her dog, Roger Alan, who she’s training to be a therapy dog. She also knows a bit of American Sign Language.
