Erica Hallman, MSW, LSW

She/Her

Location: Naperville, Shorewood

ADD /ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Life Changes / Adjustments

Growing up, navigating school, managing a neurodivergent brain, adjusting to life’s unexpected turns – none of it is easy. For many children, teens, and adults, the hardest part isn’t the challenge itself. It’s feeling like no one truly gets it. Finding a therapist who understands how your brain works and actually listens to your story can change everything.

That’s exactly the kind of therapist Erica Hallmann, MSW, LSW is.

Erica brings over seven years of experience in public school settings working alongside children and adolescents with ADHD and autism spectrum disorder – collaborating with speech therapists, occupational therapists, school staff, and families to support students’ social-emotional needs alongside their academics. She also led mindfulness groups for students ages 5 to 18. That background gives her something most therapists don’t have: a deep, practical, real-world understanding of how ADHD and ASD show up not just in a therapy room, but in classrooms, at home, and in the everyday moments that matter most.

Erica provides individual and family therapy for children, adolescents, teens, young adults, and adults. Her top specializations are ADD/ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and life changes and adjustments — and she also supports clients navigating anxiety, depression, parenting challenges, and self-esteem and self-worth.

When it comes to ADHD, Erica understands that it impacts far more than just the individual – affecting relationships, family dynamics, school, and work. Her approach is practical, focused on helping clients understand how their brain works and developing strategies that fit their life. For clients on the autism spectrum, she believes in getting to know the person first, understanding their unique strengths and communication style, and helping them feel comfortable, accepted, and genuinely understood. She also supports parents navigating the complex realities of raising a child with ASD – from school systems to daily dynamics that can feel overwhelming without the right guidance.

“I am genuinely interested in learning about people and listening to their stories,” Erica shares. “It’s an even greater honor, however, to help someone achieve breakthroughs in whatever challenges are present in their life.”

Erica holds a Master of Social Work from Aurora University and draws on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Strengths-Based approaches – always tailored to the individual in front of her. Her style is genuine, relationship-focused, and grounded in the belief that feeling truly heard is the foundation of meaningful work. She incorporates humor when it’s helpful and brings honesty and authenticity to every session.

Outside the therapy room, Erica is a mom of three teenage boys – including twins – and shares her home with a dog named Gizmo and two cats named Gremlin and Coconut. In another life, she would be a chef.
