Sometimes the hardest part isn’t the struggle itself – it’s finding someone who actually gets it. Whether you’re managing ADHD that makes daily life feel like an uphill battle, grief that doesn’t follow anyone’s timeline, anxiety that won’t quiet down, or the particular weight that comes with a life spent in service to others, you need more than a therapist who listens. You need one who understands.
Gabe knows what it’s like to navigate mental health challenges personally – and that lived experience is part of what makes him the therapist he is. It’s not just empathy as a professional value; it’s empathy as something he’s actually practiced. That’s why creating a space that feels genuinely safe and supportive isn’t a clinical goal for Gabe – it’s a personal commitment.
He works with individuals ages 14 to 64, supporting clients through ADHD, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues, and men’s mental health. He holds an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northern Illinois University, along with a Certification in Trauma-Informed Counseling. In session, Gabe draws on CBT, mindfulness, narrative therapy, and strengths-based methods – and he’s known for blending these approaches in creative, tailored ways that feel fresh, especially for clients who’ve done therapy before and are ready to go deeper.
Gabe has a particular dedication to clients with military or first-responder backgrounds. He understands that the challenges that come with service – the hypervigilance, the grief, the pressure to hold it together – require a specific kind of care. His trauma-informed training means he knows how to meet those experiences with both clinical skill and genuine respect.
Wherever you are in your mental health journey, Gabe meets you there – not with a rigid formula, but with a flexible, human-centered approach built around you.
Outside the therapy room, Gabe spends time with his dog, named after the legendary Johnny Cash. He’s into movies, video games, and art – and was, perhaps fittingly, voted “Most Likely to Become a Guidance Counselor” back in 8th grade.
