Location: Naperville

Anxiety, LGBTQ+, Trauma / PTSD

We are delighted to welcome Lauren as a new Counseling Associate at Counseling Works. Lauren offers individual therapy sessions for children (ages 5-9) to adults (64), addressing a variety of presenting issues including ADD/ADHD, anxiety, co-occurring disorders, depression, LGBTQ+ concerns, relationship issues, and trauma/PTSD. They utilize therapeutic modalities such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Rogerian/Client-Centered/Humanistic approaches, and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).

Lauren received their Bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a minor in Counseling from Northern Illinois University and is currently pursuing their Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Marquette University. They have two years of experience in the helping profession, working in settings such as adolescent inpatient addiction treatment and community mental health. Lauren has served as both a therapy group leader and an entry-level mental health professional conducting individual sessions. They are currently interning at Counseling Works, where they continue to develop their skills and knowledge.

Lauren’s decision to become a therapist was influenced by their own struggles with mental health and their observations of the impact of mental health within the LGBTQ+ community. They believe in providing consistency, empathy, and understanding in every session, ensuring that clients feel supported no matter what they bring to the table. Lauren enjoys drawing, painting, and going on adventures with their partner to explore new restaurants and thrift stores. They love animals and have two cats named Pepper and Raven. During undergrad, they volunteered at a cat sanctuary and ended up adopting one of their rescues, leading their friends to nickname them “the cat whisperer.” Lauren is committed to helping their clients achieve mental wellness through compassionate and personalized care, making them a valuable addition to our practice.
