Brittany Smith, LPC

She/Her

Location: Frankfort, Shorewood

Anxiety, Depression, Trauma / PTSD

Brittany Smith, LPC, was inspired to become a therapist after working at the front desk of a mental health practice, where she saw the quiet bravery it takes to show up and face the hardest parts of life. She provides specialized support for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and trauma/PTSD. Offering sessions to couples and individuals ranging from teens, young adults, adults, and older adults, Brittany specializes in grief/loss, life changes/adjustments, and relationships issues. Before working with clients as a therapist for the past two years, she received her credential from Lewis University in Clinical Mental Health Counseling.

Brittany tends to tailor her support based on each client’s needs, identity, and readiness, blending psychoeducation with creative and experimental work. She uses modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic approaches, and Rogerian/Client-Centered/Humanistic. Additionally, she has been trained in Trauma-Focused CBT and CCT, specifically around sexual assault and domestic violence, where she has extensive experience working with survivors. Brittany also has experience by using the DIR/Floortime model to support clients with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

“A powerful shift can happen when we slow down and begin to notice patterns in our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors,” Brittany shares. She incorporates client-centered narrative and creatively relational approaches, including character development and storytelling, to help clients process trauma, identity, and relational patterns in a way that feels more accessible and less overwhelming. She finds that many clients discover that they are able to explore parts of themselves more freely through the characters they create, which can lead to meaningful shifts in self-understanding and self-compassion. Brittany values authenticity, warmth, and trust, and strives to create a space where her clients feel safe to explore, reflect, and grow at their own pace. She connects well with clients who are navigating trauma or neurodivergence, especially those who appreciate deeper, more reflective conversations.

Outside of her professional life, Brittany loves cooking and has a deep love for animals. She would choose to be a veterinarian if she was not a therapist.
