You’re more than your symptoms. But somewhere along the way, it might feel like that’s all anyone sees — the diagnosis, the pattern, the “issue” to be fixed. If you’re tired of feeling reduced to a checklist and you’re ready for a therapist who sees the whole story, Amanda might be exactly who you’re looking for.
Amanda is a warm, down-to-earth therapist who works with adults and couples navigating co-occuring disorders, trauma/PTSD, and life transitions. She also supports clients experiencing relationship challenges, low self-esteem, mood disorders, and veterans’ mental health. She’s especially passionate about helping people who feel stuck – caught in old patterns they can’t quite explain, repeating dynamics they didn’t choose, and carrying a story they’re ready to finally understand and rewrite.
Her path to this work includes three years in intensive residential substance use treatment, where she developed a deep, firsthand understanding of addiction recovery and the mental health struggles that so often accompany it. That experience shaped the clinician she is today: someone who knows that real change rarely comes from surface-level fixes, and who’s willing to go to the root of things with you.
Amanda holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Governors State University and is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC). In session, she draws on Psychodynamic and Narrative Therapy to help you explore where your patterns started and what they mean, Emotionally Focused Therapy to strengthen the relationships that matter most to you, and Strengths-Based approaches that remind you of the capability you already have.
Amanda is deeply committed to the kind of therapy that creates real “a-ha” moments – the instant something finally clicks, and you understand yourself a little differently than you did walking in. That’s the work she loves most: helping you move from feeling stuck to feeling like the author of your own story again.
Outside of work, Amanda is a proud cat parent to Jake, Bucky, Emily, and Finn. She enjoys building bioactive terrariums, sewing, painting, and playing Dungeons & Dragons – pursuits that bring the same creativity and curiosity to her life that she brings to her clinical work.
