We are excited to welcome Amanda as a new Counseling Associate at our mental health private practice. Amanda offers individual therapy sessions for young adults (18) to older adults (65+), specializing in co-occurring disorders, life changes/adjustments, mood disorders, relationship issues, self-esteem/self-worth, trauma/PTSD, and veterans’ issues. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, and strengths-based approaches.
Amanda is currently pursuing her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Governors State University and holds a CADC (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) license. She brings three years of professional experience working in intensive residential substance abuse treatment centers prior to attending graduate school. Amanda’s treatment style is integrative, viewing the world through a psychodynamic lens and tailoring her approach to the strengths and goals of her clients.
Amanda’s journey to becoming a therapist began with her own experiences of struggle and stress, which led her to a deeper understanding of mental health. She discovered a passion for helping others and watching them gain confidence, empowerment, and self-understanding. Naturally empathetic and compassionate, Amanda is dedicated to helping clients navigate their stresses and personal journeys of discovery. She values the therapeutic process and is excited to support clients in achieving their “ahh-ha!” moments of growth and change. Amanda has four cats named Jake, Bucky, Emily, and Finn. Her hobbies also include keeping houseplants, bioactive terrariums, Dungeons and Dragons, sewing, and painting. With her extensive experience and commitment to continued education, Amanda is a valuable addition to our practice.
